Regional Loss Estimation

Loss Estimation, including implementation of FEMA’s HAZUS (HAZards U.S.) software, is the foundation for effective hazard mitigation.

MMI Engineering provides loss estimation consulting services, including HAZUS implementation, to support hazard mitigation planning and emergency preparedness.  We assist our clients in hazard identification and risk assessment for natural and man-made hazards by performing:

  • Inventory data enhancement
  • HAZUS implementation, including development of earthquake scenario loss estimates
  • HAZUS Data Standardization Guidelines development
  • Casualty modelling
  • Hazard identification and risk assessment to support hazard mitigation planning

Effective hazard mitigation planning requires both comprehensive hazard identification and risk assessment.  For natural hazards such as earthquakes, floods and hurricanes, MMI Engineering utilizes FEMA’s HAZUS (HAZards U.S.) GIS-based software to create credible scenario loss estimates.  For more reliable estimates, MMI specializes in casualty modeling and inventory database enhancement, including development of several HAZUS Data Standardization Guidelines documents.  Results from custom loss estimation studies are used to support hazard mitigation plan development, and emergency response planning, including training and exercises.
