This independent, subscription-funded body has been established to serve the needs of the users of hydrocarbon fireproofing materials and systems through a focus on education, training and research. The overall aim is to improve PFP standards across the hydrocarbons industry. For example, the image provided at the top of this page illustrates a surface that has been incorrectly prepared prior to PFP application – PFPNet will seek to prevent such occurrences.

PFPNet is intended for safety, structural, mechanical and materials engineers – along with buyers, researchers, testers, installers and manufacturers. The guidance, training and accreditation that PFPNet will develop will increase understanding and competency across the whole area of PFP, leading to a reduction in the risk of costly problems, with the potential for significant immediate and longer term cost-savings. Members will have direct input into this process, as by serving on sub-committees, or by becoming developers or deliverers of the guidance and training, their opinions and knowledge will be included in all PFPNet output.

If you would like to become involved, or would like to receive a copy of the PFPNet proposal, which outlines the group’s initial plans along with membership costs, please contact Gemma Shackleton. Alternatively, please visit the PFPNet website.
