The 12th International Conference on Shock & Impact Loads on Structures is taking place between the 15th and 16th June in Singapore. MMI’s Enrique Munoz-Garcia, who is based in Kuala Lumpur, will be presenting a paper on Friday the 16th entitled “Development of Blast Resilient Glass Facades for World Financial Centre in New York”. The paper, which has been authored by MMI’s Shashank Gupta and Andrew Morrison (based in Warrington, UK), details a project whereby MMI provided blast consulting services to two clients to support the construction of replacement facades to the World Financial Centre’s Courtyard.
The paper will demonstrate the design process and philosophy utilised in developing the blast resilient design and will highlight how various design issues were investigated and resolved.
