For Offshore Engineering 2015, taking place in Aberdeen, the IMechE has invited experts from the operator and contractor community to present technical papers to illustrate how safety and reliability issues have been resolved offshore.

Topics covered include major hazards and process safety, asset life extension, the use of computational fluid dynamics, subsea technologies, decommissioning, well integrity and human factors – all issues at the leading edge of modern offshore engineering.

Ian Herbert, an Associate at MMI’s Warrington office, will present two papers on the 8th.  In the morning he will present ‘Prescriptive Versus Goal Set: The History and the Future?’, and then into the afternoon, on behalf of David Weimer (an Associate from Houston), Ian will present ‘The Human Factors Behind Inherently Safer Design’.  Saffron Wyse will also present on the 8th.  Saffron is a Project Engineer based at our Aberdeen office, and in the afternoon she will present a case study entitled ‘Assessment of MEG Substitution on Blowdown Flare System Using CFD’.
