The objective of this on-the-job PFP training of was to provide first-hand experience to new MMI and Geosyntec staff in Malaysia.  The training covered:

  • Available materials
  • Application locations
  • Application techniques
  • Technical requirements
  • Testing and inspection

The purpose was to develop PFP scheme familiarisation, ensuring that colleagues understood the optimal extent of fireproofing coating required to ensure an agreed level of performance in mitigating identified jet and pool fire events.

The training was held at MHB’s premises in early October.  Mike Docherty, a Senior PFP Consultant based at MMI’s Perth office, initiated the field training alongside Encik Asmadi (PPG) with support from Deleum Primera.  Deleum is currently working on the Shell-Technip owned Malikai TLP Deep Water Offshore Platform, and during their PFP field work, Syaiful Iskandar Yahaya (Geosyntec), Razali Harun (Geosyntec) and Simon Raj (MMI) participated in the inspection and application of 14,000 sq.m areas of Malikai’s platform structures.
